Hello everyone, first of all my apologies for the long delay in getting this information up on the site. I have had some issues with my computer which I hope are now behind me!
Once again the Bakewell weekend went off really well with, as I understand it an increase in the number of individual carvings entered and a general step-up in the quality of the carving displayed. The Severn Wildlife Carvers saw tremendous success with eight members entering carvings covering all the classes from Youth to Open and, with at least one award in each of those classes. A full list of all the awards and trophy's can be found at www.bdwca.org.uk. in summary members of the group were presented with nineteen awards and three trophy's between them.
Our congratulations go to all who took part but particularly to Joe Chappell and Mark Montgomery. Mark was awarded the John Boddy Perpetual Trophy for his Tawny Owl and the Wingspan Trophy for his bust of a Northern Goshawk. Young Joe Chappell was awarded the Flutterby Sponsorship Award as the BDWCA Best Youth Entry for his Long Eared Owl which I believe was inspired by the owl in the Harrry Potter books. Unfortunately we did not win anything in the group competition but there is always next year as we wait to hear what the bird will be then.
Many thanks to Sue Harrison for taking the photos below (I forgot to take my camera!).
